A combination of sustainability and functionality
The main component in the new body assembly set is the panel made of PP, which can be completely recycled. This is an environmentally-friendly option from WIHAG that is not only sustainably manufactured but is also easier to recycle. It is also a viable alternative to conventional GRP solutions.
“Opting for this material puts us well on the road to the recovery economy and we are playing our part in reducing CO₂ emissions – both in the fabrication and operation of the vehicles,” according to Willi Giesbrecht, CEO of WIHAG Fahrzeugbausysteme GmbH.
A look at the benefits
The novel body assembly set offers ecological as well as practical benefits:
- Low weight: The light panels reduce the weight of the truck, leading to lower fuel consumption.
- High impact strength: The material used is extremely robust and resistant to external forces.
- No adhesives used: No adhesives are used in the joint between core and face sheet; fabrication is more environmentally-friendly as a result.
- Improved CO₂ balance: Using a material that can be recycled and the fuel savings achieved during operation improves the CO₂ balance for the entire vehicle.
- Optimization for VECTO: A lighter vehicle means a better VECTO balance; this is crucial for compliance with EU CO₂ guidelines.
A future-oriented solution
The new body assembly set from WIHAG is a pioneering solution for the transportation industry. WIHAG is clearly demonstrating how innovative technologies can contribute to greater efficiency and environmental protection – and this against a background of a more challenging emissions-standards environment and a surge in demand for sustainable materials.
The new body assembly set is available now and can be customized to suit the specifications of different types of vehicles.
